IN THE BEGINNING OF 2016 WE WENT ON THE MARKET WITH “HEALTHY AND TASTY ORGTREE MILLET COOKIES
This was our first pre-step, a learning experience. We were really passionate about starting out but we knew we still had a lot to learn. There is very little documented history of baking of millets and we tapped into all of it. From the oldest recipes we could find to the latest experiments around the world. We tested our products in the market, The test of the cookie was in its eating. We got really good feedback. Some praise, some harsh criticism. All constructive. All making us want to do better.
We felt a need to switch our products from “orgTree cookies and snacks” to KIRU
OrgTree became bigger than snacks. orgTree is a millet company. We enable farmers to grow millets, add value to the produce and promote healthy consumption as a lifestyle. Kiru is one of the ways we are promoting this.
Orgtree has two customers
One is obvious, the paying customer, the ones who buy our boxes and buy them again. The ones who want to lead a healthier life than previously possible and the ones who like the idea of living and eating sustainably. Kiru caters to them.
But we also have another customer. The not so obvious one.
The farmers. The ones from our hometown, the ones who farm around our factory. The ones who grow millets that we buy and make into our delicious snacks. Because if they don’t buy into the idea of growing millets, we will fail. For us to flourish, they have to flourish, and for them to grow, orgtree has to put all it has into making sure the marketplace sustains, and this drives orgTree.
OrgTree is the big picture company. We look at health, we look at sustainability of agriculture, of production, distribution and consumption.
Kiru, makes millet snacks. Kiru focuses on making the tastiest snack it could be.
